POSITION SUMMARY
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and analysis of engineering systems. This role involves leading project engineering designs specific to Electrical Engineering, performing independent design tasks, and ensuring compliance with codes and standards. The position requires a thorough understanding of the National Electric Code and International Energy Code for Commercial Buildings, along with strong technical and leadership skills.
A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Perform engineering design evaluations and lead project engineering designs specific to Electrical Engineering.
2. Perform independent design of lighting and power systems.
3. Analyze existing electrical systems for buildings.
4. Design lighting systems, perform photometric analysis, electrical short circuit analysis, energy code calculations, and building power load analysis.
5. Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality.
6. Prepare engineering analysis of projects, including preliminary design, budget analysis, calculations, life cycle costs, and equipment selection.
7. Prepare drawings and layouts; proficient in Revit and/or AutoCAD.
8. Prepare technical construction specifications.
9. Review the development of designs for compliance with applicable codes, adopted engineering standards, and good engineering practices.
10. Perform field observations as part of the construction quality assurance process.
11. Assist with project schedules and assign work to the team as needed.
12. Deliver technical presentations to internal and external audiences as part of the design process.
B. QUALIFICATIONS
1. Required Experience
a. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure.
b. Proven experience in electrical engineering design and project management.
c. Experience with analyzing and designing electrical systems for buildings.
d. Familiarity with the National Electric Code and International Energy Code for Commercial Buildings.
e. Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant design software.
