Job Description
As an integral part of our team, you will contribute to CDM Smith's success as a Project Technical Leader for highway design projects and pursuits throughout New England.
Responsible for coordination and management of the technical content of projects including driving the technical vision of the end product, ensuring the technical accuracy of the work product, ensuring the right technical skill sets are on the project at the correct time, developing and mentoring technical project staff, and coordinating all aspects of the project with our clients. Additional responsibilities include;
-Providing day-to-day direct oversight of transportation planning and design projects
-Developing project design criteria, alignments, construction plans, construction specifications, and cost estimates
-Writing of technical reports
-Providing quality reviews of highway design projects
-Providing technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm
-May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work
Minimum Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
-Professional engineering (PE) license.
-7 years of related experience.
-Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
-Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Certification/License Requirements
Professional Engineer
Preferred Qualifications
-PE in Connecticut, Massachusetts, or New Hampshire & the ability to get reciprocity in other states.
-Strong background with CTDOT, NHDOT, and MassDOT Municipal roadway/highway design projects.
-Experience in task management and delivering roadway/highway design projects from initiation through final design.
-Knowledge and design experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads.
-Ability to present in front of a large group.
-Strong communication and technical writing skills.
-Experience completing Hydrologic and Hydraulic analysis of drainage systems and design of stormwater management a plus.
