Professional Civil Engineer (PE)
A local firm is searching for a Professional Civil Engineer (PE) with experience in civil
engineering, construction management and project management to join our Design
division.
We are excited to expand our presence with a newly established office in South
Carolina, and we're looking for a Civil Engineer to be a foundational member of our local
team. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated professional to help shape the growth
of a new branch while contributing to civil infrastructure, site development, and public[1]sector projects across the Southeast. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team
and have direct access to leadership, diverse project exposure, and strong potential for
career advancement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop civil design plans, calculations, permit applications, and specifications
for site development, transportation, drainage, and utility infrastructure projects.
• Assist in planning, permitting, and construction support services for both public
and private clients.
• Conduct field investigations, site visits, and surveys to gather data and monitor
construction activities.
• Coordinate with internal teams (survey, structural, environmental, geotechnical,
architecture), other multi-disciplinary team members, and external stakeholders.
• Prepare engineering reports, technical documentation, and cost estimates.
• Support project managers with schedules, submittals, client communications,
and quality assurance.
• Help establish local workflows and best practices as part of the South Carolina
office’s startup and expansion phase.
• Support proposal development and project pursuits as needed.
• Maintain awareness of project schedules, budgets, and deliverable deadlines.
• Attending and leading technical review committees, neighborhood meetings,
planning board meetings, council meetings, and other meetings that may fall
outside traditional working hours.
• Perform other related tasks as requested by supervisor.
Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• 4+ years of relevant experience in civil/site design, preferably including work with
municipal or state agencies.
• PE certification required; PE license in South Carolina (or ability to obtain within
12 months) strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with stormwater modeling software
(e.g., Hydraflow Storm Sewers & Hydraflow Hydrographs) is a plus.
• Proficiency in water and sewer modeling (Water CAD & Sewer CAD)
• Experience designing gravity sewers & pump stations as well as low pressure
sewer systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage tasks independently while contributing to team goals
• Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work independently and
as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Full knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and Bluebeam (preferred)
• Must speak and write English fluently and maintain a valid Driver's License
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be able to meet Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) and other
Military base specific access requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with South Carolina state or municipal design and permitting
processes (e.g., SCDOT, SCDHEC).
• Familiarity with federal design standards or experience on federal contracts (e.g.,
NAVFAC, USACE) is a plus.
• Interest in helping grow a new office location and contributing to business
development efforts.
• Experience or familiarity with land surveying principles.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds occasionally. Additional
requirements may be needed for specific sites/locations.
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (identify
warning sounds on a construction/project site (sirens, horns, etc.)) and to make
the discriminations in sound.
• Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time on construction sites with
uneven terrain
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
• Ability to climb occasionally.
Compensation & Benefits:
• Salary for this position ranges from $85K+ annually, depending on qualifications
and experience
