Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic engineering firm, specializing in MEP design services for the building and construction industry. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in designing, implementing, and overseeing mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) for a variety of facility types, ensuring they meet all safety, performance, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Documentation: Lead or assist in the detailed design and documentation of HVAC, plumbing, and hydronic systems, including equipment selection, layout, and sizing. Generate and oversee mechanical design/construction drawings using software like Revit and AutoCAD.
- Calculations & Analysis: Conduct detailed MEP system design calculations, such as heating and cooling loads, pressure drop, and energy simulations using software like Trane TRACE or Carrier HAP.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration and coordination of mechanical systems within the overall building design.
- Code Compliance: Ensure all designs and installations comply with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, IBC).
- Construction Support: Conduct site visits and inspections, prepare field observation reports, respond to contractor RFIs (Requests for Information), and review submittals to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Project Management: Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules and budgets, ensuring tasks are completed on time and within financial constraints.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of documented applicable experience in the construction or MEP design industry.
- Licensing: Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, though not required.
- Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD is required. Experience with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite is also necessary.
- Skills: Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
