Primary responsibility is to be in a support role in coordination with the Project Engineer in designing electrical systems for various clients in the various markets within their design team. Coordinate and work with the design team within your discipline and work with the client/Project Manager (PM)/Project Engineer to execute project objectives in a timely and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL Duties & Responsibilities
Perform engineering calculations, preparing single line diagrams, sizing of electrical components and equipment, conduct short circuit analysis where required and prepare technical specifications.
Review projects regularly to ensure departmental standards and requirements are consistent with client requirements and the project budget.
Perform design, layout, and checking of electrical systems drawings and ensure the technical correctness of the drawings by using the applicable job, federal, state and local standards and codes.
Perform site surveys, energy audits, attend project meetings and provide field construction support, as required.
REQUIRED
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Must be knowledgeable of local, state and national code requirements.
Must have experience/working knowledge of lighting and electrical load analysis software.
Strong working knowledge and utilization of Autocad, Revit experience is a plus.
Knowledgeable of the USGBC LEED Rating system and standards is a plus.
Must be a good time manager, comfortable with frequent deadlines and transitions.
Effective at working with other staff members in a fast-paced environment.
Must have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate complex ideas and have strong technical writing skills and technical documentation skills with the ability to prepare presentations and reports.
Able to read, write, speak and understand English
MINIMUM Education & Experience
BS in Engineering (preferably Electrical)
Minimum 3 years professional experience with proven progression in electrical engineering and design of building electrical systems.
Experience in executing a design project with Autodesk Autocad or Revit and implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Engineer in Training having taken the FE exam and should be working towards professional licensure.
