Your Impact
We’re looking for a Director of Mechanical Engineering with strong expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems to lead and oversee the successful execution of projects across the department. In this role, you will supervise project delivery, support project managers, and ensure that all work aligns with contractual requirements, schedules, budgets, and TJK’s high standards of quality.
This position blends technical leadership, mentorship, quality assurance, and client-facing responsibilities. You will set department standards, manage the workload of team members, and contribute directly to projects as needed—acting as Engineer of Record, project manager, or designer depending on project demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee departmental projects and support project managers
- Lead quality assurance and maintain mechanical design standards
- Conduct QC reviews and ensure code compliance (ASHRAE, local codes) and client requirements
- Manage workload, staffing, and resource assignments
- Maintain client relationships and assist with project challenges and solutions
- Participate in training, mentoring, and technical development of staff
- Research and implement design improvements, energy-efficient solutions, and emerging technologies
Your Strengths
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Nevada
- 10+ years of mechanical design experience (HVAC, plumbing, and building systems)
- Proven leadership and team coordination skills
- Strong technical knowledge, QA/QC capability, and software proficiency (Revit, AutoCAD)
- A leadership mindset with the ability to balance big-picture oversight and hands-on project involvement
