Job Summary:
This senior level engineer will serve in a lead technical role on design projects and will lead or perform complex planning, analysis and design for all civil/highway aspects of transportation projects, including roadways, stormwater management, and utilities. Other duties may include client presentations, proposal preparation, estimating project costs, contract negotiations, and overseeing and ensuring that project quality, schedule, and budget requirements are met.
He or she must be familiar with civil design methods and competence with design software such as InRoads, OpenRoads and Civil3D along with CAD programs such as AutoCad and Microstation. Familiarity with codes and standards for New York State and New York City or similar agency codes is required. Must be able to multi-task and capable of leading or working with other technical design staff in a multi-discipline team environment and participate in day-to-day design activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a discipline lead.
- Civil/roadway design, plan preparation, specification development, and report writing.
- Lead and coordinate the activities on transportation engineering assignments to ensure that goals or objectives of these assignments are accomplished within prescribed time frame and budget parameters.
- Establish work plans.
- Work successfully in a team environment.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Coordinate with clients, stakeholders and/or subconsultants throughout the design process.
- Carry out QA/QC plan requirements and follow document control plans.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required.
- NY PE license, other states such as NJ, PA, CT is a Plus.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive and demonstrated experience in analysis, design and plan development.
- Knowledge of civil design in accordance with current standards is required.
- Previously demonstrated project experience with NYSDOT is preferred.
- Familiarity with MicroStation, AutoCAD
- Experience working on Design-Build delivery a plus.
- Experience managing and mentoring engineering staff.
- Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills are essential.
