Fundamental Role:
Senior Engineers are registered professionals who manage and approve for construction all discipline-specific project design.
Job Tasks:
1. Develop high level discipline-specific project design intent and overall system structure for breakdown into specific engineering system design tasks.
2. Provide management of specific MEP system engineering and design:
a. Supervise assigned engineers, designers, and drafters
b. Review all work and coordination with other disciplines
c. Ensure all design work is being completed on time
3. Provide design narratives as required by project.
4. Develop and edit discipline-specific project specifications as needed.
5. Seal discipline-specific project construction documents.
6. Review and answer plan review comments from Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
7. Review RFI and Submittal data.
8. Consult with project client on:
a.Discipline specific project requirements and expectations
b.Identification and resolution of coordination issues
c.Understanding LEED and/or AEGB project requirements including:
1)Green building requirements
2)Green building scorecard point system
3)Energy modeling
4)MEP system commissioning
9. Attend project coordination meetings to communicate project progress and needs.
10. Write proposals for future work/projects.
Minimum Requirements:
1. BSEE from an accredited university. Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas in electrical engineering. Licenses in other states in the future may be required on a project basis.
2. Firm understanding of:
a.Overall building and MEP system design, permitting, and construction process
b.Complex MEP system design and associated interdisciplinary requirements
c.Engineering and construction costs
d.LEED and/or AEGB requirements
3. Ability to:
a.Communicate effectively with clients and project teams
b.Be self-directed and manage time effectively
c.Manage conflict to achieve positive outcomes
d.Lead diverse teams to provide project designs on time and within budget
