Summary:
Mechanical Engineer will support the mechanical design of residential, commercial, and industrial projects for new construction and renovations.
Mechanical Designer will develop technical solutions to issues utilizing engineering principles, building code requirements and common building materials/equipment and the ability to understand architectural drawings.
Flexibility and determination are key attributes that aid the Designer in adjusting to suit project and client constraints/changes while keeping projects on schedule and in budget in this fast-paced environment. The Mechanical Designer details these solutions using Auto CAD/Revit to produce construction documents, which generally include heating/cooling calculations, energy analysis and compliance, equipment specification, duct diagrams and arrangement plans. The candidate will actively engage clients in meetings & relationships to ensure conceptual design development to suit preliminary requirements. Work with project manager and other team members to review project priorities and scheduling to ensure on-time completion and to ensure synchronized designs. Perform site inspections for records and to assist with clarifying information during the construction phase.

Responsibilities:
- Design mechanical systems for a variety of projects including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation
- Prepare heating, ventilation, and air conditioning load calculations
- Calculate construction cost estimates
- Conduct existing building surveys and documentation of existing mechanical systems
- Review bid documents, answer RFIs, review shop drawings, and participate in field observations and write corresponding reports
- Collaborate with other disciplines such as architecture, electrical, civil, etc.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 1+ years of experience in HVAC / Mechanical Design Engineering. Experience working on commercial, mixed-use, multi-family, education, or mission critical projects a plus.
- EIT or PE license highly preferred but non-licensed candidates will be considered for Designer positions.
- Experience using Revit or AutoCAD required. Experience using Trane Trace, Trace 700, and/or CarrierHAP a plus.
- Experience with plumbing or fire protection design a plus.
