EDUCATION:


Degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Planning or other approved Degree, is considered a minimum. Advance degrees or additional degrees in management, finance, marketing, design art or other discipline that will benefit the firm will be favorably received. Special emphasis or special training for design within their chosen field will be required.


POSITION DESCRIPTION:


Project Manager Designer provides design support for the firm. Provides effective leadership for the design discipline to ensure corporate goals, objectives and plans are effectively executed. Responsible for: directing the daily operations of the design discipline; operating the design efficiently and profitably; participating in marketing activities and business development; and creating an environment conducive to high quality design, productive cooperation and professionalism. Project Manager Designer reports to Principal In Charge of the projects.


QUALIFICATIONS:


A minimum of 5-10 years of experience within the profession will be required for this position. Experience leading design efforts for public, athletic, educational, community, urban design, commercial, and planning projects.


A license in the state of California to practice their specific discipline (L.A., P.E., Arch., etc.) is required. Further credentials may be required depending on their area of expertise.


Thorough knowledge of design practice, including marketing and con¬tract development, budgeting and scheduling, programming and planning, design process, project management, specifications and construction drawing development, codes, materials, costs and construction techniques. Must be proficient in the use of computer for design and understanding CAD operations. Must research and remain current on the “state of the art” in landscape design through review of periodicals, continuing education and involvement with professional organizations.


Ability to creatively devise and effectively present ideas graphically, orally and in writing; analyze a situation, draw sound conclusions and develop recommendations; plan, organize, assign and coordinate staff activities; and oversee production / design process.
