Civil Engineer
Blew & Associates turns raw land into buildable, code-ready sites that power Arkansas communities and renewable-energy projects. As Civil Engineer you will own the design, permitting, and construction-phase engineering that lets survey crews, developers, and solar developers move from dirt to ribbon-cutting without delay. Your stamped plans will be the difference between a project that stalls and one that generates power or homes on schedule.
Performance Objectives
- Produce, stamp, and submit complete civil construction documents (grading, drainage, utilities, erosion control) for at least eight land-development or solar-farm projects per year, achieving first-pass approval from Fayetteville, Washington County, and ADEQ reviewers.
- Reduce client RFIs and field change orders by 30 % through constructability reviews conducted with survey and construction teams before bid.
- Deliver storm-water and hydrology models that meet or exceed local ordinances on every project, documented with supporting calculations ready for third-party audit.
- Coordinate with in-house PLS crews to convert field data into accurate existing-conditions base maps within five business days of survey completion.
- Mentor two junior designers so they independently produce 80 % of plan-set sheets by month 12, measured by peer review scores.
- Close out as-built certifications and final plats for 100 % of assigned projects within 15 days of substantial completion.
Environment & Resources
You report to the Principal Engineer and sit with a 15-person survey-and-design team in our Fayetteville office. You will have full licenses for Civil 3D, HydroCAD, and ArcGIS, a dedicated drone-data pipeline, and a project budget that covers third-party geotech and traffic studies when needed. Decision authority on design alternatives up to $25 k rests with you.
Essential Qualifications
- Arkansas PE (or ability to obtain by reciprocity within 90 days) plus 5+ years producing stamped land-development or renewable-energy civil plans.
- Proven record of first-pass municipal approvals on at least six recent projects of 20+ acres.
- Hands-on proficiency with Civil 3D pipe networks, surface modeling, and quantity take-offs used daily by our survey crews.
- Direct experience coordinating with PLS field teams and converting GPS/drone point clouds into design-ready surfaces.
- Ability to travel to Northwest Arkansas job sites 1–2 days per week for construction observation.
Role Selling Points
- Work on the solar and residential projects that are reshaping Northwest Arkansas—your name is on the plans that get built, not buried in a 200-person firm.
- Direct access to principals; no layers between you and the client or the field crew.
- Stable private company with 20+ years of local relationships and a pipeline that does not depend on public-sector cycles.
- Office culture that values field time and Friday-afternoon plan reviews over endless meetings.
