Senior Principal Geotechnical Engineer: We are looking for a Senior Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead geotechnical projects, grow client relationships, and provide technical leadership across a variety of projects. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the technical side of geotechnical engineering and developing business and mentoring a team.
What You’ll Do
- Lead geotechnical engineering projects from investigation through design and construction
- Manage and mentor engineers and project teams
- Develop new business opportunities and build long-term client relationships
- Lead project pursuits, proposals, and client meetings
- Plan and manage geotechnical exploration programs and laboratory testing
- Perform and oversee geotechnical analysis and design
- Provide recommendations for foundations, earthwork, retaining walls, and slope stability
- Perform or oversee settlement and stability analyses
- Prepare and review geotechnical reports, drawings, and specifications
- Work with clients, contractors, architects, and other engineering disciplines
- Troubleshoot technical challenges and develop practical, cost-effective solutions
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables
- Support business development and identify opportunities for continued growth
What We’re Looking For
- 15+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
- Professional experience working on projects in North Carolina
- Active PE license required
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
- Strong experience with geotechnical design and analysis
- Experience with slope stability, shallow and deep foundations, mat foundations, retaining walls, and large earthwork projects
- Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams
- Strong consulting and client-facing experience
- Ability to develop and maintain client relationships
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience mentoring and developing engineers
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Experience with business development and project pursuits preferred
