SUMMARY
The Senior Electrical Project Engineer serves as a technical expert but may also have management and marketing responsibilities. Acts as senior, advanced engineer of the department. Responsible for technical development in the electrical engineering discipline.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Serves as Project Engineer on complex, single-discipline and complex multi-discipline projects.
· Serves as lead engineer on projects to coordinate work with other disciplines.
· Interfaces with clients and vendors.
· Assists with proposal development and project documentation including estimating engineering manhours estimates for scope.
· Familiar with other disciplines and performs inter-discipline reviews.
· Coordinates all aspects of project document completion within the company and externally with clients and other design professionals.
· Reviews work of the project design team. Checks the progress of work and alerts the Project Manager to needed changes to the scope or other services.
· Performs field measurements independently. Train others.
· Assesses the requirements of a project, break a project down into tasks, and works with a Project Manager to determine scope, budget and staffing for a project.
· Works with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to the building code is required.
· Promotes the use of and participates in the development of company design and production standards.
· Assumes complete responsibility for engineering within his/her discipline for projects.
· Coordinates work of his/her discipline with other disciplines.
· Makes recommendation and/or decisions on unusual or complicated issues.
· Directs and assists co-workers with performing field measurements.
· Prepares or reviews construction budgets based on experience and scope of project.
· Performs or directs construction support/management on projects.
· Directs construction observation of others on projects.
· Leads the education and development of design staff and acts as a resource for design questions.
SPECIALIZED TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Must have knowledge of applicable building codes and National Electrical Code.
- Must keep current on the “state of the art” in their design specialty through review of periodicals and continuing education.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, and the client.
- Must have previous experience in consulting engineering.
- Must have medium voltage design experience up to 35kV.
- Integrity, sense of responsibility, independent judgment.
- Ability to delegate tasks and duties.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in the PC/windows environment with experience in e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree required, with specialization in the electrical discipline.
- 15+ years of previous consulting or facilities engineering/design experience.
- PE License required.
- Valid Drivers’ License.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position operates in a professional office environment. This is typically a full-time position, which is defined as being scheduled to work 40 hours or more per week.
