CAD/GIS & Survey Technician –this position includes all other responsibilities that may be necessary to fulfill the duties associated with the position or as may be assigned, (ie. field inspection, etc.). Not a work from home position.
Survey responsibilities and skills needed:
· Outbound, Boundary, Right-of-Way & Topographic Surveys
· Legal Descriptions
· Construction stakeouts
· Flood elevation certifications
· Metes and bounds descriptions
· Foundation locations
· Assist PLS with cost estimates and proposals
· GPS data collection using GPS TopCon Unit with Magnet Field subscription
· AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency
· Assist in organizing and scheduling survey backlog
Requirements:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Willingness to work outdoors year-round
· Ability to operate survey equipment and read plans
· Be able to work with little or no supervision
· Strong verbal and written communication skills essential. Must be able to operate in a "team" environment.
· Current and valid driver’s license
Physical demands:
· Digging for property evidence with shovels and pry bars
· Walking over uneven, sloped terrain
· Carrying field equipment
· Long hours on your feet
· Possibly lifting of storm/sanitary manholes, grates or inlet grates (50-100 pounds)
· Hammering stakes and lathe into the ground
· Work in dangerous locations (construction sites and traffic lanes)
· Outdoor environment which may cause encounters with bees, snakes, etc. that require immediate action to prevent injury
CAD/GIS Technician responsibilities and skills needed:
· Maintain AutoCAD Civil 3D and Geographic Information System (GIS) files for municipal and private development plans.
· Prepare AutoCAD and GIS databases, maps, project plans, database reports, and specialized queries in support of various projects.
· Create, edit, and maintain drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Esri.
· Perform AutoCAD and GIS analysis, modeling, and reporting to support decision making.
· Proactively provide ideas and solutions for project-related problems.
· Provide AutoCAD and GIS technical assistance and support on projects.
· Perform Quality Control tests on data entry and map deliverables done by others.
· Assist engineers with data collection, mapping verification, and field inspections.
Requirements:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Minimum 2 years of experience working with ESRI and AutoCad Civil 3D products. Experience with exchange of data between CAD and GIS..
· Experience with ESRI Products (ArcGIS, ArcGIS on-line and Geodatabases).
· Experience with tax map revisions and base mapping required
· Proficiency in Adobe and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.) required.
· Field experience in data collection, mapping verification, and/or construction inspection preferred.
· Familiarity with geographic projections, datums, and coordinate systems and with how geospatial data are developed and organized.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills essential. Must be able to operate in a "team" environment.
· Valid Driver’s License.
