This full-time, in-office role, at our Cincinnati, Ohio office, as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer will involve leading design of electrical systems for various projects. The day-to-day will include leading design engineering of Electrical systems in various market segments, utilizing Autodesk software. The senior professional electrical engineer will assist in setting the culture and mentor the electrical team to ensure efficient and effective system designs and contribute to the successful completion of projects with respect to quality, budget and deadline. The senior professional electrical engineer is responsible for key client interaction in given market segments when necessary. This may include your participation in marketing & sales presentations to win projects. Multidisciplinary design integration skills between internal departments and external clients are critical to the success of this position. You will share the responsibility of stamping electrical sets with other professional electrical engineers in the department (and company). It is critical that you lead and own the electrical design for a portion of confiential workload. Responsibilities:
- Lead & execute electrical engineering workload for Motz Engineering
- Project work includes general electrical distribution system design, lighting system design (& photometrics), single-line diagram, other riser diagrams, schedules, floor plans, and specification assembly & writing
- Must be able to establish design criteria from project proposals to assemble basis of design / program of requirements for projects to lead electrical engineers and designers through overall project execution
- Must have knowledge in ancillary system such as fire alarm, tech/av, generators, UPS, fire pumps (electrical elements & code understanding of fps)
- Review shop drawing submittals, review & answer RFIs (request for information) proficiently, review Contractor change orders, site visits during early design & construction phase, execute punch-lists
- Execute construction administration for projects (client does not have separate team responsible for executing CA)
- Participate in weekly (and daily) meetings or huddles to coordinate workflow with electrical department - and other departments (mechanical, plumbing, and project management)
- Establish efficient plan to execute electrical engineering project work and communicate this plan with Project Managers and other departments, as required
- Meet deliverable deadlines
- Manage younger electrical engineering staff to execute deliverables, as required
- Stamp electrical designs For-Permit (duties will be shared across department and company)
Qualifications:
- Currently registered or ability to quickly obtain registered PE in state of Ohio
- Minimum 7 years of experience as a Registered Professional Engineer
- Proficient in Revit, able to teach and mentor growing engineering force
- Electrical design experience – emphasis on datacenters, aviation, or industrial is a plus
- Desired skills and design experience in healthcare, industrial, higher-education, aviation or datacenters
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills supported by practical and energy efficient design calculations
- Track record of leading design teams, controlling man-hours, ensuring quality, meeting deadlines
- Strong knowledge of standards and codes, specifically, Must have deep understanding of National Electric Code, Building Code, Energy Code
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineering (PE) license NCEES is a must
