You will own HVAC design quality, mentor and support our mechanical designers day-to-day, conduct design reviews, and help shape the onboarding and training of future team members. You will work across a diverse portfolio of residential, multifamily, commercial, and hospitality projects, including high-rise and large-scale building systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the technical lead for the Mechanical Department — guiding, reviewing, and supporting all mechanical designers throughout project delivery
- Conduct initial design, design reviews, and quality control checks across active projects
- Mentor mechanical designers and provide day-to-day technical guidance
- Actively participate in the development and delivery of our internal training program for new and existing team members
- Perform HVAC load calculations, system sizing, and equipment selection
- Prepare and review construction documents, specifications, and energy compliance submittals
- Coordinate with architects, clients, and internal MEP disciplines
- Support construction administration, RFI responses, and periodic site visits
- Ensure code compliance and energy-efficient design on all projects
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- HVAC design experience: 7+ years
- Project management or technical lead experience: 3+ years
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
- Strong knowledge of Florida Building Code, NFPA, and ASHRAE standards
- Experience with DX, VRF/VRV, and DOAS systems for low and mid-rise applications
- Experience with hydronic systems (chillers, cooling towers, primary/secondary loops) and pressurization/smoke control — high-rise, multifamily, or hospitality experience strongly preferred
- Skilled in load calculations, equipment selection, and construction document production
- Strong coordination, communication, and client-facing skills
- English required; Spanish preferred
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (NICE-TO-HAVE)
- EI/EIT certification or active pursuit of PE licensure
- Chiller plant design and cooling tower selection for large-scale projects
- Experience managing or mentoring junior engineers or designers (3+ years preferred)
- Plumbing and/or Fire Protection system design
WORK SCHEDULE & LOCATION
This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our Davie, FL office. Here is what to expect:
- Onboarding period (approximately first 3 months): primarily in-office to ensure a strong foundation, effective integration with the team, and clear alignment on workflows and quality standards
- Long-term schedule: hybrid flexibility — up to 2 days remote per week — based on demonstrated performance, project needs, and team coordination requirements
- Periodic site visits and client meetings are expected as part of the role
