Job Description
The Electrical Engineer will be an integral part of the team. This person must be a team player, working closely with clients, team partners, and fellow staff to produce engineering drawings and documents. This person must have strong communication skills, be detailed oriented, and well organized.
Duties Include, but are not limited to:
- Electrical system analysis, including normal and back-up power systems, lighting systems, and fire alarm systems.
- Preparation of construction documents for power distribution systems, lighting systems, and fire alarm system.
- Coordinate with in-house and subconsultant specialists for electrical support of varying low-voltage systems, such as technology, security, controls, etc.
- Coordinate with other trades, such as architects, mechanical and plumbing engineers and others for equipment power and control needs and sizing electrical distribution.
- Perform design calculations of electrical loads to size and select distribution equipment.
- Develop electrical systems one-line diagrams.
- Perform field verification of existing systems for renovation projects.
- Write and edit specifications to reflect the project requirements.
- Communication with manufacturer representatives to determine solutions for specific applications.
- Prepare design deliverables for various owner required submittals, i.e., SD, DD, CD level documents.
- Perform project construction administration including response to RFI’s, review of submittals, preparation of bulletins, review of contactor change orders, field visits and punch trips for installation verification.
- Attend meetings with clients, authorities having jurisdiction, and other professionals as projects require.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Engery Systems
- 5-7 Years of electrical design in consulting engineering.
- Working knowledge of design and analysis software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, Easypower.
- Good knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), State Energy Code, NFPA guidelines, and FGI guidelines.
- Experience with electrical system studies such as short circuit, over-current device coordination, and Arc Flash Hazard analysis per NPFA 70E.
- Proficient knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.
- Ability to work several projects concurrently.
- Experience in designing Healthcare, Commercial, Public Sector, Education, and/or Institutional projects.
- PE or EIT Certificate preferred.
