SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The PRIMARY FOCUS of the Project Engineer I is to assist with the design, development, plan production, and permitting for projects of varying size and complexity. The Project Engineer I will provide innovative solutions to project issues utilizing current design standards and guidelines. They will also assist other Project Engineers, Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and/or Production Manager and Leadership in organizing and documenting the design process, preparation of engineering documents and construction plans. They shall be proficient with Civil and CAD design software required by the company and client; be able to read & interpret construction plans, design standards, guidelines, and client scope; provide options for the resolution of design issues; maintain a high level of productivity; review design for adherence to company and client expectations and standards; obtain progressive experience and training on design process and specific design elements.
The SECONDARY FOCUS of the Project Engineer I is to perform the duties of the CAD Technician when needed on projects at the direction of the Senior Project Engineer, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, and/or Production Manager and Leadership. All duties and responsibilities of the CAD Technician position are required of the Project Engineer I when operating in this capacity.
The Project Engineer I must be able to speak and write clearly and concisely; have strong multi-tasking and organizational skills; be responsive and eager to learn; have a sense of urgency and drive to succeed and be able to operate autonomously on various projects. He/she must be willing to assist Leadership as needed to facilitate corporate initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• All Responsibilities of the CAD Technician, plus:
• Assist in the preparation of engineering documents and construction plans
• Performing data collection, data entry, and analysis of data
• Preparation of technical reports
• Anticipating potential project issues and facilitating their resolution
• Maintaining a proficiency with all civil design related software (including CAD) required by company and client
• Ability to read & interpret construction plans, design standards, guidelines, and client scope
• Review of design for adherence to client expectations and standards
• Continuous monitoring of progress of assignments and adherence to the published Production Schedule
• Continuous monitoring of the quality of tasks, assignments, and project deliverables
• Deliberate review of completed tasks and assignments for adherence to Ingenium standards as well as client expectations and standards
• Continuous monitoring of assignments and budgeted task hours
• Aid any Ingenium staff member as needed to facilitate project, client, and corporate initiatives
• Membership and participation in a professional civil engineering group or society
Minimum Requirements & Attributes:
• Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering
• Possessing an EIT certificate is a plus, but not required
• 1-3+ years relevant experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to draft correspondences and other communications quickly with minimum direction
• Keen attention to detail with ability to track and manage multiple projects at one time
• Ability to act efficiently on last minute assignments, tasks, and projects
• Proficiency with AutoCad Civil 3D, CAD, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Publisher, MS PowerPoint
• Ability to work with and understand project budgets as directed
• Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team
• Ease in getting along with team members at all levels
• Consistency and a high degree of quality in work and execution of deliverables and initiatives
