Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical System Design:
- Develop and design mechanical systems for heating, cooling, and ventilation (HVAC), plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical services.
- Ensure compliance with energy efficiency and sustainability standards (such as LEED or local energy codes).
Project Collaboration:
- Collaborate with architects, electrical and civil engineers, and construction teams to integrate mechanical systems with building designs.
- Participate in meetings and provide technical expertise on system designs and project requirements.
Technical Documentation:
- Prepare detailed mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications using software like AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM.
- Create cost estimates, material lists, and timelines for mechanical installations.
Construction Oversight:
- Monitor construction and installation processes to ensure that mechanical systems are installed correctly according to designs.
- Conduct inspections and tests to ensure systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
System Optimization:
- Perform analysis to improve energy efficiency, optimize system performance, and reduce operational costs.
- Recommend and implement new technologies, materials, and best practices to enhance system efficiency and sustainability.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all mechanical systems comply with building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and address safety concerns in the design and implementation of systems.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Previous experience in building systems design within the AEC industry, with a focus on HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Knowledge: Familiarity with energy efficiency standards like ASHRAE, LEED, and local building codes.
