OBJECTIVE: Graduate Engineer (BSCE) is able to assist in or complete basic analysis and produce consistently high-quality design for various type of projects, including layout/design of utilities, storm drainage, grading, erosion control, site layout, and driveway/roadways, zoning requirements, or other related civil engineering components.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
v Assist with the basic analysis and design of civil engineering components under direct supervision of Project Civil Engineer or Project Manager.
v Perform civil design calculations for grading, drainage, utilities, paving, and site designs with frequent and close supervision.
v Perform drafting and design on projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other civil engineering design and modeling software.
v Perform design in accordance with accepted standard of practice and with local codes, ordinances, and regulatory requirements having jurisdiction over the project.
v Assist with creation and editing of civil and site drawings.
v Conduct research for Code requirements and design options as directed by the Project Civil Engineer or Project Manager.
v Assist in other duties assigned by a Project Engineer and/or Project Manager.
v Perform design in accordance with accepted standard of practice and with local codes, ordinances, and regulatory agencies having jurisdiction over the project.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
v Coordinate site layout, grading design, and site utility engineering with the Project Civil Engineer or Project Manager.
v Assist in the preparation of design calculations for inclusion in reports and technical summaries.
v Assist with Construction Observation related duties such as site visits, field reports, and assistance with completion contractor RFIs.
v Coordinate and effectively communicate with people in other disciplines and with jurisdictional reviewers and staff.
v Acquire and maintain knowledge of local jurisdiction and state permitting / approval processes.
v Assist in compiling all components required for jurisdictional review and approval processes and submitting documents to the appropriate agencies.
v Assist with the creation of and editing of civil and site drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
COMPETENCIES:
v Knowledge.
Ø Basic knowledge of civil engineering concepts, principles, theories, and methods required to plan, design, and engineer site and land development projects to include grading, erosion control, phasing, environmental, stormwater, water, wastewater, site design, zoning analysis and roadway plans at a minimum.
Ø Basic knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and professional standards.
Ø Basic understanding of A/E/C industry terminology and procedures.
Ø Basic knowledge of software used in engineering design and plan production.

Ø Fluent and comprehensive understanding of the English language including reading, writing, and speaking required.
Ø Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ø Working Knowledge skills in MS Word, Excel, and other relative software utilized in the civil engineering industry.
Ø Working knowledge of Civil 3D and site modeling software.
Ø Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ø Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
v 1-4 years of experience in the civil engineering industry with civil site design and engineering
v Working knowledge of civil engineering concepts, principles, theories, and methods preferred
v Driver’s License preferred
v EIT Certification preferred
v Stormwater or other related Site Civil Engineering Specialty Experience preferred
v Proficiency in Civil3D strongly preferred
v Experience with site design strongly preferred
