Job Description:
The Lead Civil Engineer - Land Development serves as the chief of their respective projects within the Land Development Department. The position is responsible for coordinating with various team members to complete project deliverables to identify the resources required to make each project successful.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Work directly with the Department, Group, PMs, or other Team Leads to identify and coordinate team priorities, deliverables, and submittals.
- Act as a mentor and oversee Project Engineer and Design Engineer's work products and coordinate work assignments. Provide meaningful direction, training, and guidance to junior staff to grow their knowledge and tool sets to build a strong team atmosphere and working relationships.
- Responsible for overall technical performance of the project, including budget and schedule control, and QA/QC.
- Provide technical staff assistance, identifying and addressing production issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Review work from team members to ensure sound and accurate designs that meet all applicable criteria, client or project goals, and the high standard of quality that the company demands. This includes reviewing construction plans, cost estimates, calculations, models, and reports.
- Interact as needed with clients in meetings, phone conversations, and email correspondence. Maintain routine interaction with other firms, planners, A/E representatives, contractors, and review agencies.
- Establish and maintain long-term client relationships which lead to additional work and services. Promote all company services and offices to clients.
- Maintain accurate schedule and submittal logs.
- Work with existing and potential clients during conceptual and creative project planning stages to ensure cost effective, environmentally sound, and aesthetically pleasing solutions.
- Develop positive working relationships with city and county professionals and other regulatory agencies.
- May sign and seal drawings prepared under your supervision.
Required Skills/Abilities/Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- PE license highly preferred
- 5-7+ years of applicable civil engineering experience
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and associated design software
- Technical knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, utility design and associated modeling software such as StormCAD, CUHP, EPA SWMM, and HEC-RAS
- Strong technical expertise in Civil Engineering design for land development projects
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage/mentor junior staff and work well in teams
- Experience with regulatory agencies, and familiarity with federal, state, and local policies
- Experience with project submittal process, project planning, resource and budget estimating
