We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering to build and expand our engineering team. Building and mentoring a talented group of engineers and designers, driving the planning and execution of various land development projects from concept to completion. As the Director of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in growing our presence in these regions, ensuring the delivery of high-quality civil engineering designs, and meeting project schedules and client expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Actively seeking and securing engineering clientele through strategic outreach, networking, and relationship-building efforts.
- Building and managing a team of civil engineers and designers, providing guidance and direction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Communicating and coordinating with client staff and internal design team to oversee the design and development of diverse types of land development projects from conceptualization to completion.
- Implement quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance of design documents.
- Lead the design team in the creation of civil engineering plans, including grading, stormwater management, utility design, roadways, site layout, etc. Perform or review detailed analysis and calculations to ensure designs meet requirements.
- Responsible for reviewing, approving, and sealing drawings, associated specifications, and reports prepared by internal design team.
- Managing technical quality, profitability, and schedule of projects
- Managing multiple small projects as well as larger projects simultaneously
Qualifications
- North Carolina, Professional Engineer License (P.E.)
- Strong local experience and knowledge of the reporting area, with established relationships that will help foster new business opportunities and strengthen our presence in these markets.
- 8-12 years of experience in civil engineering, particularly related to land development.
- Proven experience supervising and mentoring technical staff.
- Proficiency in Civil3D software is required.
